History Museum

We went on a field trip this week with our homeschool group. We have had the neatest field trips lately! This was a small museum in our community. There was a lady there that told the story of the American Revolution. She involved the children and had a lot of props. Carrington was John Hancock and the storyteller handed her a quill pen. Clayton was a redcoat. He wore a tricorn hat and had a pistol. He was "shot" during the story and was told to fall to the floor. Of course he was more than happy to oblige. The building was beautiful, about 150 years old. I loved all of the antique items. They had a colonial flag with the 13 stripes and 13 stars on it. I don't think it was old, but I would love to have one of those to hang in my house somewhere! It is so fun to discover all of these jewels where you can learn in such a hands on way. There is a boat load of field trip opportunities in our area and we will definitely take advantage of some of them this year!
